Catalepsy = muscular rigidity, current from many possible forms of disease (such like deep hypnosis or precocious dementia) indicating similar aspect of the one current to death. Consequence: premature burial. Usually the cataleptics end up being buried alive. The only Brazilian band to adopt the most aggressive side of Psychobilly, called by some: "Power Psychobilly". Power trio which play on the limit of speed, utilizing the bases and the instrumental simplicity of Rockabilly, like the simplified drum kit and the acoustic upright bass, coming together with a constantly distorted guitar. This formula results in an extremely fast and violent sound, where they spill insane screams that approach macabre teams, revealing the terror in all its faces. The band was born in June 1996 in the south region of Brazil, more precisely in the city of Curitiba, where the Brazilian Psychobilly developed more. It counts with integrants of some of the oldest Brazilian bands (Missionários and Os Cervejas) which made the base of the whole local psycho scene in the 80's. Since their first line up only one change occurred, going out the first drummer, Marcio Tadeu, and coming in Coxinha, which complete the group with Vlad (guitar/vocals) and Gus Tomb (Coffin-Bass). After the set up of the band, they stood one year without a concert, only rehearsing. Only in September of 1997 they started on the most important Brazilian Psychobilly festival, on the 4th Psychobilly Fest. After the debut they did in record time all the possible places to play in their region.

Bonde do Role

They dance. They laugh. They brawl like sister and brothers. They make songs about partying, fucking, going to the beach, partying and fucking on the beach, secret agents and queuing at the post office, all wrapped up in an unintelligible but perfectly logical barrage of Portugese gay slang which even most Brazilians don�t understand. They are the party-funk-fuelled soundtrack to a John Waters-directed account of Kenneth Williams dancing on the tables down the Korova Milk Bar. They are Pedro, Marina and Gorky and they have come for your daughters, sons, mums, dads, girlfriends and boyfriends. They are not picky.

Los Diaños

Two years after their first CD, Los Diaños, from Curitiba - Brazil, is releasing the second item of their discography: "Contagem Regressiva para a Insanidade" (Countdown to Insanity). The album is available only in vinyl LP or mp3 formats a different and pretty unique combination for nowadays.
The band started in 2001 and is known for mixing vintage music styles (such as 30's and 40's jazz, dixieland and bluegrass) with the heavy end of rock n roll (psychobilly, punk and metal).
The group had already supported bands like Placebo, Ratos de Porão, Weezer and Mercury Rev on big festivals like Claro Que é Rock, Goiania Noise, Curitiba Rock and Psycho Carnival (the biggest psychobilly festival of Brazil), besides playing on MTV Brazil and many alternatives places from bookstores to pubs and, of course, lots of underground bars in Brazil.

Sopa

Com melodias, letras psicodélicas e tropicalismo, a banda Sopa mostra que não existem parâmetros quando a idéia é inovar e experimentar novos sons. Com instrumentos que vão do xilofone à gaita de boca, os cinco integrantes da Sopa se alternam buscando a sonoridade ideal para cada música. Todas as canções são de autoria da banda sendo que o espírito de grupo prevalece, com pouquíssimas composições individuais. A Sopa teve sua estréia em outubro de 2005 na Faculdade de Artes do Paraná, e um mês depois já era residente na Aoca Bar, somando mais de 50 apresentações no primeiro ano de banda. No final de 2006, a Sopa gravou ao vivo seu primeiro EP, contendo 4 músicas: “Mosca”, “Oras Bolas”, “Quase Quase” e “Carrossel”. No carnaval de 2007 a Sopa se apresentou no segundo Festival Psicodália de Carnaval e atualmente o grupo prepara seu primeiro álbum que deve ser lançado no final de 2007.

Imagine uma Chevy 54 envenenada. Essa é a idéia da banda CWBilly's, um som influenciado pelo tradicional Rockabilly e pela velha escola do Rock'n Roll, porém com um pouco de veneno. Assim como o ronco do motor V8 de um Hot Rod! Lets roooock fellas!!!

Versah.

Formada em Curitiba no fim 2005, Versah é o resultado da vontade de 4 músicos de fazer um rock trabalhado, mas com características bastante radiofônicas. Amigos desde a adolescência, Demo (bateria), NNani (guitarra) e Selva (baixo) formaram a banda de metal experimental Slander, que chegou a ter reconhecimento nacional e internacional quando divulgaram um dos álbuns da banda nos EUA em 2004. Já Mary (voz) formou sua personalidade musical através da banda de metal progressivo Hidden, que também teve destaque local durante os anos de existência. Após a dissolução das duas bandas, a vocalista se juntou ao trio para formar algo diferente do rock “do momento”, mas ao mesmo tempo sem medo se usar elementos modernos. Levadas hardcore, batidas eletrônicas e letras pessoais são apenas algumas das marcas da banda que está só começando. Versah lança seu CD de estréia ainda na primeira metade de 2007.

Audiograma

Originalmente a banda foi formada por três músicos que começaram a tocar juntos ainda no colégio em meados de 1998. A idéia inicial era que os três pudessem aprender em conjunto a tocar seus instrumentos. Após uma pausa, Carlos Vaz (guitarra e voz), Leandro Lauer (baixo) e Téo Travagin (bateria), resolveram reatar o projeto. Formou-se então a Audiograma. Oficialmente ela existe desde 2004, mas o som simples e profundo ganhou corpo no final de 2006 com o lançamento do CD demo, juntamente com a transformação do trio em quarteto com a entrada de Zé Nichetti (guitarra). Desde então, a Audiograma passou a integrar o grupo das bandas curitibanas que investem em idéias e batalham pelo som próprio. A evolução da banda é constante. Pouco tempo após o lançamento do CD, conquistou boas críticas e foi convidada para tocar em festivais como o National Garage e o Vozearia. A música “Insônia” é executada em programas da cena local, e o número de shows nas mais freqüentadas casas noturnas de rock de Curitiba aumenta a cada apresentação. O grupo que começou tocando covers de Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Foo Fighters, Oasis, Ramones, entre tantos outras bandas de rock (principalmente dos anos 90), está cada vez mais sendo reconhecida pelo seu trabalho próprio e pretende investir maior tempo em novas composições.
